Manganese(II) sulfate usually refers to the inorganic compound with the formula MnSO4·H2O. This pale pink deliquescent solid is a commercially significant manganese(II) salt. Approximately 260 thousand tonnes of manganese(II) sulfate were produced worldwide in 2005. It is the precursor to manganese metal and many other chemical compounds.
Typically, manganese ores are purified by their conversion to manganese(II) sulfate. Treatment of aqueous solutions of the sulfate with sodium carbonate leads to precipitation of manganese carbonate, which can be calcined to give the oxides MnOx. In the laboratory, manganese sulfate can be made by treating manganese dioxide with sulfur dioxide:
MnO2 + SO2 → MnSO4
Electrolysis of manganese sulfate yields manganese dioxide, which is called EMD for electrolytic manganese dioxide. Alternatively oxidation of manganese sulfate with potassium permanganate yields the so-called chemical manganese dioxide (CMD). These materials, especially EMD, are used in dry-cell batteries

Manganese deficiency or "frizzle top" is a common problem in palms. Symptoms first begin to show on the newly emerging fronds (leaves). The fronds will appear chlorotic (yellow), small, and weak looking. As the deficiency progresses, fronds will emerge withered or scorched in appearance, dwarfed, and distorted. This is what gives "frizzle top" its name. If not corrected, the palm will stop growing and only small brown stubs will emerge, this is quickly followed by the death of the palm. All palms can benefit from regular applications of Manganese Sulfate. Some of the most susceptible palms to manganese deficiency are Queen Palms, Royal Palms, Pygmy Date Palms, Paurotic (Everglade Palms), and Coconut Palms.

Manganese sulfate is a sort of essential trace element in fertilizer. Mn-deficient soil is remediated with this salt. It can also be used as basic manure, seeds soaking/dressing, top dressing and spraying on leaves so that the growth of crops can be promoted with the yeld increased, as feed additives by making livestock and poultry well raised with rapid growth effect in animal husbandry and feed industry, as drying additive in paint and ink industries , as feedstock for plant growth regulators , as catalyst for synthesizing fatty acid. Besides, it can also be applied in paper mill, ceramics, dyeing and printing, ore flotation, feedstock for production of electrolytic manganese and some other manganese salts, battery, smelting catalyst, analytical reagent, dyeing mordant, additives, and auxiliary additive for pharmaceuticals, etc.
White or pale pink deliquescent solid crystals or powder
Like many metal sulfates, manganese sulfate forms a variety of hydrates: monohydrate, tetrahydrate, pentahydrate, and heptahydrate. The monohydrate is most common. All of these salts dissolve to give faintly pink solutions of theaquo complex [Mn(H2O)6]2+. The pale pink colour of Mn(II) salts is highly characteristic.
This product is designed to be mixed into a commercial feed. Do not feed directly. Consult your local State Agricultural Experiment Station or Extension Service for proper recommendations on the usage of this product.
Be stored in a cool, ventilated warehouse, away from flame, heat source, and sunlight. It should be placed separate from acids, never stored together. Some suitable vessels are suggested ready in the warehouse to collect the leakage with.
When the product is to be shipped, the package should be in a sound condition. During transportation, make sure there is no leakage , nor tilting, dropping, or damage to the package. It is forbidden for the product to be transported together with acids and edible chemicals. During transportation, make sure to avoid the sunshine, rain and high temperature. The shipping vehicle should be cleaned throughly after transportation. During shipping on the highway, the vehicle should go along the regulated route.
